[Hello Luceti, the Ion on your screen today is actually Florian wearing a colored paper headdress with green feathers taped onto it. Also his old newfeather dress, because why not. Lying on the floor in a sudden fit of ennui, he picks up his journal for some chatting.]

Ion's chair broke...I wanted to play with it, too. [He pauses for a moment, thinking. If Ion's chair is broken, then does somebody have to carry him around? Or do they find a new chair? Or--oh hey there's a big stick under his bed he'd totally forgotten about that.]

...Is there a special way to punch people? Like how there's special ways to use a sword, and you have to practice and all of that. So maybe I could learn to fight like that, and then I could save the day and be a hero and ride a dragon and--

[He's been lifting the journal higher and higher over his head as he says this from his position on the floor, to the point that it's practically touching the floor--which is when it slips out of his fingers and falls shut. Oops.]

Oh, no. Everything's fine. I just wanted to run something by someone he lives with before starting anything. Don't want to mess up anything else in play, since he seems kinda young.

You see, he's asking for someone to teach him how to 'punch bad guys.' Now, I know that isn't a good fit, but I've gotta hunch that he's gonna keep asking until someone takes him up on it.

I can teach him a thing or two in self defense, unless you've got someone else you'd prefer. If you do...well. That's for you guys to deal with.

[It's pretty hard to get her head around Florian wanting to hurt people.]

He asked about that? [And in person she's looking at him like is this really true, Florian?] I wonder if there is some kind of problem.

[Florian, meanwhile, is looking back at Nephry as if there's absolutely nothing strange about this at all. Not interrupting though, that'd be rude. Come on Nephry, say yes, say yes!]

I dunno if it is or not. He also said that he wants to help if things get messy out there, Ma'am. Since he doesn't want to use a stick or anything, he thought that this might work.

His heart's in the right place, unlike many of the kids I've met. Mostly, they just wanna learn to fight for the sake of it. This sounds pretty different.

[Very hard. Cliff grinned when he heard his new student's excited voice.]

Don't worry, Ma'am. I'll take care of him. The name's Cliff, by the way. We can meet in person, if you'd like.

[His offer served a dual purpose. Face to face contact was always preferrable to anything that occured over a video feed, because so much can be lost in the transmission. But, he also didn't want her to worry about Florian working with someone as intimidatingly tall as him. It was enough to throw plenty of people off of their game, both in good and bad ways.]

I think I would. My name is Nephry; it's a pleasure. If a very bewildered one.

[Looking at Florian again:] Anise isn't going to know what to do with you.

[He'd leave family matters within the family; it was none of his business, unless he was brought in for some reason.]

[Translation: he's giving you complete control of your domain, Nephry. Do as you will.]

Would dinner be all right? We could all meet at the restaurant.

[That includes Florian, this is his idea.]

[He hoped that it would include Florian. They had no reason to talk, otherwise.]

Alright, dinner at the restaurant it is. See you then?

[The rest of the house will just have to fend for themselves.]

[Cliff arrived at the restaurant early, properly showered and cleaned up for this meeting. First impressions were always the ones that lasted, and he wanted to make sure that he made a good one for Nephry and Florian. Taking Florian up on the request for training was entirely his choice, but he knew that there was a bigger package that came with it.

He was willing to talk to anyone that cared, if need be.

Sitting at a table near the door, Cliff waited patiently for their arrival with only a glass of water as company. He had nothing but time on his hands.]

[Of course, Florian was the first to rush in through the door, energetically looking around for his new teacher. This was exciting! Fighting lessons and dinner at the restaurant and grownup talks(?) that he actually got to be a part of!

It was with a smile and a wave that he finally noticed Cliff nearby, bouncing over to say hello.]

We're here~!

[Nephry follows Florian at a slower pace, extending a hand in hello when she reaches the table.]

This is one of the strangest requests Florian has made. [Strange for Florian, at least.]

[Cliff stood and flashed Florian a grin when he entered, already interested in the kid's energy. That could be very useful...

He laughed.]

Hah. I can see that! You really can't wait to get started, can ya?

[He sobered when Nephry arrived,and he s shook hand cordially at the offer. His grip was firm, but not too strong or too rough. At 6'5, he figured that she had enough to take in as it was.]

Sounds like, from the rest of the conversation on there. It's nice meeting you both in person, Ma'am.

[They were close to the same age, but utter strangers. It was best to play it safe.]

[Is it strange? He hadn't thought of it as strange. He couldn't help bouncing up and down as he watched the formalities, with the handshaking and stuff. Up, down, up, down--he'd be out of energy by bedtime, hopefully.]

[A veteran of business dinners, Nephry knows that the dinner comes well before the business in any kind of considerate gesture, so she takes a seat. Cliff seems all right so far.]

[Polite gestures like these were all part of the job for Cliff. Having done this sort of thing more times than he cared to count, it was just something that he did.

Cutting to the chase too soon was impolite.

Cliff returned to his seat as well, grinning in amusement at Florian's antics.]

Guess he really can't sit down...

Ma'am, is he always like this? Its gotta be nonstop over there if this is the norm.

...I can sit down! See?

[That wasn't a challenge, Florian. Still, he finally takes a seat like a good little boy, sitting nice and proper at the table.

...He'll probably start kicking his legs in a few minutes.]

Florian's situation in life is rather unique. Recently, yes, he has always been like this. [Ion's kindness and all the naivete of an actual three-year old. Nephry smiles and shakes her head.] One of the things I hoped to discover is his intention for "punching bad guys".

Sounds like it must be a regular party over there.

[He meant that in a good way. Rowdy people were something he was more than comfortable with.]

Have you tried asking him about this yourself? All he told me was that he wants to help people fight bad guys.
