[florian has been wandering around the village today, peeking in shops, attempting to climb trees, stalking bugs through the grass. the usual thing. he might have even run into one of you wonderful lucetians, it's a definite possibility.

it's been a really long time since he actually properly wrote in this journal thing of his, too, come to think of it - so sometime this afternoon, after a good few hours of running around, he sits down on the ground somewhere and asks an important question.]

I just thought of something...how do you know what you're not supposed to eat? Like, you can eat spinach but you shouldn't eat leaves.

...Do deer eat leaves? Maybe I can eat them after all...

I don't know...they're all kinda different, but then they all taste like meat.

I know you're supposed to cook it though, that's important.

At least we don't need to cook fruit, huh?

Yeah, that's true! I'm not very good at cooking things either, so that's a really good thing.

And I know how to cut things, so we're set there.

[ He laughs, but it's kind of awkward. Because being a swordsman and handling knives are slightly different. ]

So we'll definitely have no problems with this pineapple!

[He notes the awkwardness of that laugh, but isn't entirely sure what to say to it. So. Random questions go!]

Do you think maybe there's some kinds of fruit that have to be cooked?

... Hmm. I don't know. I think you can cook fruit, though. Like pies.

Ohh, that's right, pies have fruit in them right? So...cherries and things.

Yeah. But I can't think of any fruit that needs cooking.

It's this house here. [ And lo and behold he leads Florian towards 39! ]

Maybe there is one somewhere! A fruit you've got to cook. Maybe nobody's heard of it yet!

Normally I'd say there's a lot of worlds out there, but maybe there's something about what makes something a fruit that means it doesn't need to be cooked.

... I should find something to cut this on.

[ Pretty sure there's a cutting board in one of these cabinets... ]

[Does that mean there's no worlds with fruit that needs cooking...this thought distracts him for a bit. Long enough he almost misses that comment about cutting things, in fact.]

...Oh, when you cut things in the kitchen, you put them on a wooden thing, right?

[Looking curiously around as he says this. Maybe he can find it before Kohan does...]

[ Nope! Sorry Florian. He knows the layout of the kitchen well enough to find a cutting board within checking out two cabinets. ]

Yeah. I found it. [ Placing the pineapple down on it and going for one of the large knives. ]

So... do you think I just cut the spikes off, or all of the skin?

[Darn. He'll just come over and watch you with your knives then.]

Umm...maybe just the spikes? Then if you chop it in slices we could hold the pieces and eat it that way, maybe.

Alright... let's see.

[ And he'll slowly, and possibly overly-carefully, start cutting off the spikes from the pineapple. ]

[Woooowww so careful....if Florian could actually be trusted with sharp objects he'd slice it just like that!! As it stands, though, he'll rest his head on the counter and watch the process.]

...I wonder why it's so spiky, anyway?

Maybe to stop people from eating it?

Knives really help a lot, don't they? Sort of like monster fangs, since we don't have any.

What do you mean, monster fangs?

Well knives help us cut things up for eating, right? Fangs help monsters do that.

Fangs are more for stabbing, though. It's different than cutting, but I guess it does sometimes break apart things anyway.

Ohh...so stabbing and cutting are different? I hadn't really thought of that before.
