[florian has been wandering around the village today, peeking in shops, attempting to climb trees, stalking bugs through the grass. the usual thing. he might have even run into one of you wonderful lucetians, it's a definite possibility.

it's been a really long time since he actually properly wrote in this journal thing of his, too, come to think of it - so sometime this afternoon, after a good few hours of running around, he sits down on the ground somewhere and asks an important question.]

I just thought of something...how do you know what you're not supposed to eat? Like, you can eat spinach but you shouldn't eat leaves.

...Do deer eat leaves? Maybe I can eat them after all...

Yeah... that sort of thing. But a lot of animals are stronger or faster than humans, so I guess it balances out.

Lions are pretty strong. Not that fast, though. Do you think you could find someone to train you?

They aren't? What's really fast then? I bet there's someone around who could train me if I looked.

Well... I guess they're faster than humans. But there's a lot of animals that are faster than lions. Like the ones they eat. Lions have to surround them and ambush them, otherwise they'd just run away.

Ooh...I'm not very good at ambushing.

I did! I've tried to ambush bugs and birds and dogs and people but it doesn't work.

That's right. They always notice me.

I'll try! It's hard when there's loud stuff to step on, I need to figure out how to not step on them.

What loud stuff?

Like leaves and branches and creaky floorboards and stuff.

Have you tried stepping around those?

Uh-huh. Sometimes I step wrong though. Like the creaky part of the floorboard is bigger than I thought, or there's just a whole lot of crunchy leaves.

I'd bet someone can teach you how to tell which part of the floor is going to creak.

Well... maybe. I mean, some people are good at being sneaky, right? So there's gotta be some way to manage it.

Oh, that's true, there's probably some really sneaky people around here somewhere.
