[florian has been wandering around the village today, peeking in shops, attempting to climb trees, stalking bugs through the grass. the usual thing. he might have even run into one of you wonderful lucetians, it's a definite possibility.

it's been a really long time since he actually properly wrote in this journal thing of his, too, come to think of it - so sometime this afternoon, after a good few hours of running around, he sits down on the ground somewhere and asks an important question.]

I just thought of something...how do you know what you're not supposed to eat? Like, you can eat spinach but you shouldn't eat leaves.

...Do deer eat leaves? Maybe I can eat them after all...

[He notices this first before his surroundings, yes.]

[florian actually pauses to look up at the sky when asked about morning, focusing on that (and chewing calmly on his leaf) before bothering with the other question.]

Um...I think it's a little late for morning.

[pause. he pulls a chewed-up blob off his tongue.]

.......A leaf?

Why are you eating a leaf? [He gets that he's a growing boy and all, but come on, Anise's cooking is much better than a bunch of leaves...!]

[But hey, if there are leaves here, then--] Wait... what am I doing outside?

Because it was there. [the answer to everything.]

Is the bush a good bed?

Not... really. [In fact, he's going to stands and climb out of it. He's got twigs and stuff in his hair...]

[But there are more important matters to attend to!!]

...you shouldn't eat something just because it's there, Florian. If you eat a strange leaf or rotten berries from a bush, it could make you sick.

Oh, I know what rotten stuff looks like, so you don't have to worry about that. [he says, as if he's an expert. watching ion get up, he wonders vaguely whether twigs would be nice to chew on.]

...Can leaves be strange?

Well, some leaves can be poisonous and cause a rash if you touch them, and some might have barbs that can hurt if you try and pull on them...

[Which is (hopepully) not the case for this bush, seeing as Ion was just lying in it and all.]

But besides that, wouldn't you rather have something fresh and cooked for you at home? I'm sure it would taste better than something you picked up from outside.

[he thinks very seriously on that for a moment, before going back to chewing on his leaf.] I think this one's safe though.

I'm busy being outside right now, so I thought maybe I'd try eating something outside too. [come to think of it...] Have you ever eaten plants and stuff before?

Perhaps sometime you could ask Anise to make a lunch for you to bring when you go out.

[But that question:] Have I? I can't say that I have, outside of things that have been grown in a garden.

Is this something you do often?

Oh, that's a good idea! [an idea he'll probably forget about later, but hey.]

Um. I haven't done it very much lately, since there's people making food for me to eat. They gave me food at Daath too.

...and what did you eat before you went to Daath?

...Oh yeah, Mohs gave me food too, so that was good. But before that I had to find my own food, like flowers and mice and stuff.

Why were you sleeping in a bush?

...oh! Actually, I'm not sure. Perhaps there's an experiment going on right now?

[You know, cause he totally doesn't realize he's been gone for nearly a week.]

Everyone lost their memory, so they were all confused and going around not knowing stuff.

I don't remember something like that happening...

No, I remembered everything. I was confused anyway though.

I was really worried! But then not everybody forgot, and I decided everyone'd get better eventually, so I was okay.
